Kate received her BFA in acting at UNC-Greensboro. She worked extensively in
her 20's in the off and off-off Broadway houses. She took time off to raise a
family and went back into acting in 2008 and worked for the Regroup Theater,
acting in plays written by the Group theater, including acting in a play directed
by Estelle Parsons. She has also worked with The Shelter Theater Co. and performed
original plays at The Bell House and at their Shelter Sundays workshop reading and
contributing as a writer. In 2012, Kate was devastated by the Newtown massacre and
wanted to help kids so she decided to open an acting program for kids. She started
with 13 kids in her apartment and 3.5 years later she now houses 130/year and rents
out studios at The Players Theater on MacDougal St. in the heart of Greenwich
Kate still performs and played Amanda Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie at Players Theater as well as Lady Van Tassel in Sleepy Hollow.
John Pope has been teaching at Kate's Kids since January of 2015. Since teaching here, John has gone on to launch the Kate's Kids Summer Program since the summer of 2015. He's enjoyed his time at Kate's and continues to work gleefully for the Amazing Kate and to contribute his knowledge of the arts to children of all ages. John attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts having studied at the Meisner Studio and Stonestreet Studios. As an actor, he has several theatre, film, commercial, and tv credits. Gracie Nash is a singer, songwriter, and actress based in NYC. She studied voice and musical theatre at NYU Steinhardt and graduated in 2014. She will be attending Steinhardt’s Graduate Songwriting program this fall. She started teaching at Kate’s Kids in 2014 and has had a wonderful time ever since! She has assisted in classes, taught classes, and lead summer camps. Along with Kate’s Kids, Gracie has taught at French Woods arts camp as well as The Little School preschool. Gracie loves fostering confidence in young performers, expanding imaginations, and building team work! She is currently working on producing an EP of original music, and playing live concerts in NYC.
Gareth Tidball is an actress, director, and teaching artist. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Gareth received training in the Meisner Studio and the Classical Studio. In addition to her acting pursuits, Gareth actively serves as a theater teacher throughout Queens and Manahttan. She teaches drama and musical theater classes to students aged 4-15 at the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning. Last summer, Gareth toured Eastern Europe with the Dramatic Adventure Theatre, where she co-taught drama classes to Romani (gypsy) youth in Stara Lubovna, Slovakia. Most recently, she directed kindergarten and fifth grade students at PS 82 by orchestrating performances for their end-of-year graduation. Gareth also assists with arts enrichment classes in association with the South Asian Youth Action (SAYA) at Central Queens Academy. She loves performing and working with children, and she hopes to continue to do both for many years to come.
